New Chapter for Queer Engineers and Geoscientists
A group of Association members is working to establish a new membership chapter for queer engineers and geoscientists. The group is currently looking for people interested in joining the chapter with opportunities to help develop the chapter constitution and hold executive positions. The goal of the chapter will be to provide networking opportunities, support, advocacy, and a sense of community for EngGeoMB members with diverse sexual and gender identities, orientations, and expressions (2SLGBTQ+). 2023 Awards Nominations Closing Soon!
The Association is seeking nominations for the 2023 Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Awards - and the deadline is coming up! Honours are presented in ten categories and recognize outstanding Manitoba engineers and geoscientists, teams, and employers. Submit to Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba no later than Friday, February 24, 2023. The Student Achievement Award nomination deadline is Friday, May 8, 2023. Detailed award descriptions and nomination forms can be found on our awards page.

Competency Based Assessors (CBA) - Multiple Volunteers Needed
EngGeoMB is looking for additional professional members to join the growing group of CBA assessors. Assessors must be professional members who are working in a supervisory capacity and are receiving remuneration on a full-time or regular basis (greater than 300 hours per calendar year). We are accepting applications from all disciplines but are most in need for the following engineering disciplines: Chemical, Electrical/Transmissions, Mechanical/Biosystems, Computer Software/Hardware. Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is currently looking for a professional member who is financially literate and has previous experience with fiscal policies, accounting systems, auditing skills, and experience in a non-profit or similar sized organization, to assist Council in its' external and direct monitoring of the fiscal policy. Having an MBA or CPA designation is preferred, but not required. For more information on this opportunity please see the call for volunteers.

Manitoba Robot Games - Multiple Volunteers Needed
Manitoba Robot Games is hosting their 25th games on March 18, 2023, and once again they need volunteers to make the event successful. Volunteering at the Robot Games is an easy and fun way to promote science and engineering in Manitoba and provides an opportunity to network with other professionals. Competency Based Assessment (CBA) Virtual Session - February 28, 2023
Competency Based Assessment (CBA) is conducted to determine whether applicants have progressed to a professional level of competency in their field during their engineering or geoscience work experience. This virtual information session will provide an overview of CBA and may be of interest to prospective applicants, new graduates, current interns, and anyone interested in learning about the CBA process. Reflecting Back and Looking Forward: Engineering Culture and the Future of the Profession - March 1, 2023
The culture of engineering is a complex interplay among the people in engineering, the institutions that train them, and the societies they serve. Join Engineers Canada on March 1, 2023, as they kick off National Engineering Month with a panel discussion about the culture of engineering. The panelists will discuss the culture shift that is taking place within the profession: from the calls for changes to the Iron Ring Ceremony, efforts to diversify and attract more women to the profession, to issues related to environmental justice and reconciliation. Introduction to Climate Change Through Codes, Standards, and Regulations - March 2 or 3, 2023
Codes, standards, and regulations are changing in response to and in anticipation of climate change. Organizations across the world are updating existing standards or writing new ones to help engineers, construction workers, healthcare workers, and many others to prepare society for extreme weather and changing climate conditions. The intention and purpose of this course is to have all participants understand the role that is played by Codes, Standards, and Regulations regarding climate change adaptation and mitigation for infrastructure, water and wastewater, and building construction.
