2023 Awards Nominations are Open!
The Association is seeking nominations for the 2023 Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Awards. Honours are presented in ten categories and recognize outstanding Manitoba engineers and geoscientists, teams, and employers. Submit to Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba no later than Friday, February 24, 2023. The Student Achievement Award nomination deadline is Friday, May 8, 2023. Detailed award descriptions and nomination forms can be found on our awards page.

PEGW - 2023 Spaghetti Bridge Competition - March 20 - 23, 2023
As part of Provincial Engineering and Geoscience Week (PEGW) our annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition, in support of Winnipeg Harvest, returns from Monday, March 20, to Thursday, March 23, 2023. Students in K - Grade 12 compete to build the strongest truss using just pasta and white or wood glue, then watch as we test it to destruction! The builder(s) of the strongest truss in each grade category win a cash prize, as well as being in for the chance to win the grand prize! Entry into the Spaghetti Bridge Competition is free, but pre-registration is encouraged. For more information on the competition, the prizes, and how to register, see the Spaghetti Bridge webpage.

Volunteer Opportunities
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is currently looking for a professional member (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) who is financially literate and has previous experience with fiscal policies, accounting systems, auditing skills, and experience in a non-profit or similar sized organization, to assist Council in its' external and direct monitoring of the fiscal policy. Having an MBA or CPA designation is preferred, but not required. For more information on this opportunity please see the call for volunteers.

Competency-Based Assessors - Multiple Volunteers Needed
EngGeoMB is looking for additional professional members to join the growing group of CBA assessors. Assessors must be a professional member who is working in a supervisory capacity and are receiving remuneration on a full-time or regular basis (greater than 300 hours per calendar year). We are accepting applications from all disciplines, but are most in need for the following engineering disciplines: Chemical, Electrical/Transmissions, Mechanical/Biosystems, Computer Software/Hardware. Natural Infrastructure Solutions to Enhance Climate Resilience - February 21 or 22, 2023
Natural infrastructure is becoming a mainstream option for enhancing the climate resilience of built infrastructure and communities. This course will provide a basic understanding using sustainable/natural infrastructure/innovative solutions to build resilience to climate change. Leveraging COR Policy to Stop Workplace Harassment - February 23
Sean Scott and Derek Pott of the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) will describe the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program training and audit system, including the anti-harassment and violence clauses that adhere to the Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety Act: one tool that can be leveraged to promote and enforce safe and healthy working conditions. Competency Based Assessment (CBA) Virtual Session - February 28, 2023
Competency Based Assessment (CBA) is conducted to determine whether applicants have progressed to a professional level of competency in their field during their engineering or geoscience work experience. This virtual information session will provide an overview of CBA and may be of interest to prospective applicants, new graduates, current interns, and anyone interested in learning about the CBA process.
