New Online Learning Module: Conflicts of Interest
As professionals, engineers and geoscientists must act to maintain the trust of each client individually and of the public collectively. Conflicts of interest arise in situations where the judgments and actions of individuals or institutions could be affected by multiple or competing interests. This module will help practitioners identify, avoid, and manage conflicts of interest. This and other online learning modules are available through your online profile.

2022 Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Ceremony
On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba welcomed Ian Smallwood, P.Eng., as the new Association President for 2022-2023. The Association also welcomed four new members to Council at the Annual General Meeting: Jessica Adelman, P.Geo., David Amorim, P.Eng., Alan Pollard, P.Eng.(SM), FEC, and Lisa Thomson, P.Eng. On Friday, October 14, 2022, nine awards were presented to outstanding individuals and companies at the Annual Awards Ceremony. For more information, please see the news story.

Bill 233 - The Engineering and Geoscientific Profession Amendment Act
Bill 233, The Engineering and Geoscientific Professions Amendment Act, was concurred in, read for the third time, and passed at the legislative session on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Bill 233 was introduced to the House of the Provincial Government as a private member's bill this spring by Ian Wishart, MLA for Portage La Prairie, and was read for the first time on April 21, 2022, followed by a second reading on April 26, 2022. Manitoba Government to Accelerate Adoption of 2020 Standards for National Building, Plumbing, Fire and Energy Codes
In response to industry feedback on planned changes to laws, the Manitoba Government will implement the 2020 editions of the national model building, plumbing, fire, and energy codes released by the National Research Council earlier than required by legislation. The Minister of Labor, Consumer Protection, and Government Services, Reg Helwer, announced this change on October 22, 2022. According to Helwer, the adoption of the 2020 edition will benefit Manitoba's business community through lower costs and increased competitiveness, strengthening the economy of our province. What Engineers Don't Know About Land Surveying - November 2, 2022
The Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) invites you to attend their next session, where James Watling, P.Eng., FEC, will present on 'What Engineers Don't Know About Land Surveying'. This event is being offered in-person at the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba office at 870 Pembina Highway, where lunch will be provided for $15 per person.
