Engineers Canada Gold Medal Awarded to Manitoban
Congratulations to Digvir S. Jayas, P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon.) on receiving Engineers Canada's highest honour - the Gold Medal Award! The Engineers Canada Awards recognizes and celebrates the achievements of engineers and engineering students who are advancing the engineering profession and improving the lives of Canadians and others around the world. Enforcement of the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code
The requirements of the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code, including local amendments, will be enforced by the City of Winnipeg starting July 1, 2022, via Winnipeg Electrical By-law Number 72/2022. All building and electrical permits with no related building permit, with an application in-date of July 1, 2022, or after, will be subject to the requirements of the 2022 Electrical By-law. Bike to Work Day
Ditch the car and grab life by the handlebars for Winnipeg's 2022 Bike to Work Day! Make sure to join us at the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba pit stop, co-hosted by Dillon Consulting, on your way in to work. The pitstop will be on the bike path on Southbound Pembina near the access to the rapid transit path (across Pembina Hwy from the office), from 6:30 - 9:00 a.m. To read more about Bike to Work Day, and Bike to Work Week, visit the event page for more details.

Volunteer Opportunities
Making Links Engineering Classic (MLEC) - June 16, 2022
Two volunteers are required to be onsite at Quarry Oaks Golf Course in Steinbach from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, to assist with running fundraising games and/or a hole in one competition. Volunteers must be outgoing and comfortable engaging with people. As this event is taking place outside on a golf course, volunteers must be able to stand for long hours and be outside all day (rain or shine). Meals will be provided for the volunteers. Volunteers must be able to drive to the golf course on their own, or arrange carpool, volunteers will be allowed to expense mileage. Co-Working Sessions for Interns Who Are Women and Gender-Diverse - June 9, 2022
As part of the Association's strategic commitment to achieve Council policy End 5: Practitioners Reflect the Diversity of the Public, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is launching support co-working sessions for women and gender-diverse interns. Co-working sessions are simply dedicated timeslots to keep up with the report submissions required to progress toward licensure alongside other interns. Lunch 'n' Learn - Good Character - June 20, 2022
Join EngGeoMB's Director of Professional Standards, Mike Gregoire, P.Eng., FEC, for this lunch 'n' learn session exploring the concept of good character. Intended to deepen learning and provide a forum for group discussion, all attendees are required to have completed the online learning module 'Good Character' prior to this event. To get started with e-learning, practitioners can use their Online Profile link to access the modules via the Quick Links tab. This event is offered in a hybrid format and registrants must choose to attend either in-person or online by selecting the appropriate registration link.
