Member Validation Stickers Coming January
Due to production delays, the 2022 member validation stickers will be mailed to practising members in January.
New Categories for 2022 Award Nominations
Did you know that the Assosication added two new award categories this year? The Innovation Award, which is intended to recognize engineers or geoscientists who have shown innovation though the advent of new technologies, and the Student Achievement Award, which recognizes an undergraduate engineering or geoscience student (or group of students) who have shown excellence in their field of study. Nominations for these awards and the rest of the award categoies for 2022 will open in the new year. Update on Provincial Water Management Strategy Survey
Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development is leading the development of a new provincial Water Management Strategy. Feedback was collected in July and August regarding the drafted strategy framework, specifically on the proposed vision statement, guiding principles, and focus areas. The provincial government has released the survey results report, which is now available on EngageMB's website.

Registration Committee - Multiple Positions
The Registration Committee (RC) is currently seeking mid-career practitioners with oversight/management experience and expertise in mining, mechanical/HVAC, geological engineering, or geoscience to join the committee. RC reports to Council and is responsible for conducting the final review for members and interns who are moving forward towards final registration. Meetings are held virtually over the lunch hour. Professional Development Opportunities
Co-Working Sessions for Interns Who Are Women and Gender-Diverse - January 6 and 20, 2022
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba has launched support co-working sessions for interns who are women and gender-diverse to keep up with the report submission requirements to progress toward licensure. Registration is open for the first sessions in January, with more sessions planned every second Thursday throughout the year.
Building Code: Mezzanines and Interconnected Floor Spaces - January 21, 2022
This session will provide participants with an understanding of the application of Subsection 3.2.8. Mezzanines and Openings Through Floor Assemblies of the 2015 National Building Code of Canada. For more information on course content and to register, please see the event listing.

An Introduction to Climate Change Through Codes, Standards, and Regulations (A BRACE/MCRT Course) - February 9, 2022
This course, hosted by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, is the eighth Building Regional Adaptation Capacity and Expertise (BRACE)/Manitoba Climate Resilience Training (MCRT) course in the nine-course Foundational and Infrastructure path specifically recommended for infrastructure professionals. The intention of this session is to provide attendees with a general understanding of codes, standards and regulations as well as where to go for further information.
