National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - Monday, September 30, 2024
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours Indigenous children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. 2024 / 2025 Truth and (Re)conciliation Lecture Series: Hosted by Jessica Vandenberghe - Friday, October 4, 2024 - Friday, June 20, 2025
Engineers and professionals have a role to play in Truth and (Re)conciliation, and it's vital to understand the true state of communities and the complexities of working within Canada. This series will use the foundation of Truth to appreciate Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing, and relating, and will touch upon two-eyed seeing as a framework to discuss decolonization. Each session builds off the previous sessions, and guest speakers will be invited to participate from time to time. 2024 Central Canada Mineral Exploration Convention (CCMEC) - Monday, November 4 + Tuesday, November 5, 2024
Founded in November 2018, CCMEC was the first-ever industry-driven mineral exploration convention in Manitoba. The event has grown and now features two days of globally recognized speakers and attracts an attendance of over 700 exploration professionals, academics, government representatives, supplies, financiers, innovators, Indigenous Peoples, and community representatives. The convention provides opportunities for networking, professional development, and industry engagement. It continues to expand and is now the largest event of its kind in Central Canada.
