National Day for Truth and Reconciliation -
September 30,
2023 September 30 is a federal statutory holiday for the National Day
for Truth and Reconciliation. This day provides an opportunity to recognize and
reflect on the legacy of residential schools in Canada. The day opens the door
to global conversation about all aspects of the schools and is an opportunity
bring people together in the spirit of reconciliation and honouring the
experiences of Indigenous peoples.
Student Renewals Now Available Online Students
attending either the University of Manitoba or Brandon University are reminded
to renew as a student with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba for the 2023-2024
year. Students with the Association have access to a Competency-Based
Assessment (CBA) Work Log, professional development learning modules, and
receive weekly communication from the Association, among other benefits. To
renew, students log into their
online
profile and review their anticipated graduation date, personal preferences,
and to provide the renewal payment.
Annual General Business Meeting (AGM) -
October 19,
2023 In accordance with By-law 13.4(a), all professional members and
interns are invited to the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Association. For
this year, assessment candidates, licensees, and students are also invited by
the President to observe the AGM. All are invited to register for the
complimentary

Lunch to be held in advance. Those entitled to be present for the meeting
can choose whether to attend in-person at the RBC Convention Centre, or online

Appeal
Committee -
Multiple Positions The Appeal Committee fulfills
one of the core functions of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, as mandated by
the Act and by-laws. Appeal Committee members determine, as a panel, whether
to uphold, modify, or overturn decisions made by the Registration Committee,
Registrar, or Investigation Committee, by hearing appeals made by applicants
regarding registration decisions, and complainants regarding decisions made by
the Investigation Committee. The Association is looking for professional
members (P.Eng. and P.Geo.) who have ten or more years of professional
practice experience, have knowledge of the Act and by-laws, and some knowledge
of the judicial process to join the committee. Please review the

Competency-Based
Assessors -
Multiple Positions EngGeoMB is seeking additional
assessors, to conduct a final review of an applicant's Competency-Based
Assessment (CBA) report, by providing their own ratings for each of the
competencies, and make a recommendation on the applicant's readiness for
professional registration. We are seeking professional members who are working
in a supervisory capacity and are receiving remuneration on a full-time or
regular basis (greater than 300 hours per calendar year) in
all engineering
and geoscience disciplines, but with a specific need in the following
engineering disciplines:
Biomedical (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical),
Industrial, and Chemical. Please review the

Assessment Validator Session -
October 11, 2023 Have you been
asked by an intern (engineer-in-training or geoscientist-in-training) or
licensee applicant of the Association to be a Validator for their
competency-based assessment (CBA)? Are you currently a CBA Validator with
questions about the process? This virtual session will outline what CBA
validators need to know, how to validate competencies in the CBA process, and

Infrastructure
Resilience Professional (IRP) Credentialling Program -
October 2023
The Climate Risk Institute offers professional development training in
climate change risk, resilience and adaptation. With multiple courses available
soon and throughout the fall, extend your learning on topics including the
PIEVC Protocol for climate risk assessment, risk modelling and communication,
climate law, and climate smart policy and procurement. CRI's associates and
instructors are leaders in their fields, and the online learning environment
blends self-paced and live sessions with instructors and peers. Find

Carbon Reduction Seminar -
October 4, 2023 Join ASHRAE for a
day focused on reducing the carbon footprint of buildings in Manitoba.
