April 19 - 25 marks National Volunteer Appreciation Week and we would like to thank our countless volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Whether you sit on Council, committees, task groups, chapters, or assist with our special events, we are grateful for your contribution to the Association's mandate to self-regulate and to provide the public with a safe and comfortable environment in which to live and call home.

In April 1962, we saw the start of the construction of the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment, later renamed Whiteshell Laboratories. It would become Canada's second nuclear science research and development laboratory with a focus on the largest organically cooled, heavy water moderated nuclear reactor in the world, the WR-1. Through its years of operation, the people of the Whiteshell Laboratories made significant contributions to the science and engineering knowledge of Canada's nuclear industry.
